Multiple Teams · Bulldogs Drop Home Opener to Munday

Both Stamford and Munday entered Friday’s contest looking for their first win of the 2016 season. The Moguls started the scoring halfway through the first quarter on a 22 yard passing touchdown and converted on the two point try to take an 8-0 lead. The Bulldogs drove deep into Mogul territory, but stalled out at the four yard line after a fourth and goal try. After both teams traded possessions that ended in punts, the Bulldogs scored on a 47 yard pass and run. Wesley Gonzales hit Steven Johnson down the middle and he split the Mogul defense to score. On the PAT, Wesley hit Zachary Duran with a pass to knot up the score at 8 early in the second quarter.

The Moguls took the kickoff and drove to the Bulldog one where they broke the tie on a running touchdown and tacked on another two point conversion to take a 16-8 lead with 5:55 left in the half. Neither team could score with their next two possessions and the first half ended with Munday up by eight points. The Moguls extended their lead with two quick touchdowns in the third quarter. The second came on two big plays with Dawkins ripping off a 41 yard touchdown run, and after a failed two point try, pushed the score to 30-8 to close out the third quarter. The final score of the night came on a 74 yard run by Dawkins and with their fourth two point conversion of the night posted a 38-8 win.

The Bulldogs travel to Merkel to take on the Badgers at 7:30 in week three of the season.
